Nancy Farley, born to Henry and Harriet (Clausen) Alff in Atlantic, Iowa on February 17, 1949, died Monday, August 31, 2020, at her daughter’s home in Anita, Iowa at the age of 71.
Nancy grew up on a farm near Anita, and graduated from Anita High School in 1967. Following graduation, she worked for the State of Iowa in Des Moines for the Driver’s License Department for several years before returning to Anita to work at various office positions in Cass County. One of her jobs was at the Wayne Feed Store, and while there, she met her future husband, Wayne Farley. The couple married on March 11, 1978, and were blessed with three children Joe, Sarah and Samuel.
Nancy eventually decided to become a Nursing Home Administrator and took classes on weekends and evenings at Iowa Lakes Community College in Spirit Lake. After receiving her license, she worked at various nursing homes throughout the state of Iowa. As a Nursing Home Administrator Nancy was an active member of the Iowa Health Care Association serving on many committee’s for over 20 years. Her final position as an Administrator was in her home town of Anita at Caring Acres where she retired in January of 2019.
She was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Anita, and was active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and Altar Guild. In her spare time Nancy enjoyed yard work, gardening and reading. She loved spending time with her family; treasuring every moment she could with her grandchildren, who called her Nana.
Nancy is survived by her children, Joe (Jennifer) Farley of Lincoln, Nebraska, Sarah (Brandon) Paulsen of Anita, Iowa, and Samuel Farley of Anita, Iowa; grandchildren, Grace, Logan, Adaline, Gus, and Griffin; brothers, Howard (Marie) Alff of Anita, Iowa, and Bruce (Judy) Alff of Anita; and sister, Connie (Steve) Riesselman of Vail, Iowa.
She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
A visitation with the immediate family present to greet extended family and friends will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Sunday, September 6th at Roland Funeral Home. Due to COVID -19 a private family funeral service will be held at a later date at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Anita, Iowa. The funeral and graveside service will be recorded and available at www.rolandfuneralservice.com by noon on Wednesday, September 9th.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to the family for later designation.
