Obituary for Genevieve M "Jenny" Farley

Genevieve "Jenny" Lowary Farley, 93, of Atlantic passed away Friday morning, February 5, 2016, at Allen Place.

Genevieve Marie was born on April 11, 1922, in Atlantic, Iowa, the daughter of Herman John and Ruth Grace (Peron) Allen. She attended school in Atlantic. On December 24, 1938, she was united in marriage to Harold Lowary at the Atlantic Presbyterian Parsonage. The couple was blessed with a son, James Edward. On September 1, 1973, she married Wilmer Farley of rural Elk Horn.

Jenny worked in the nurses station at Cass County Memorial Hospital and the Atlantic Medical Center, and later volunteered her time there and at Heritage House. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Atlantic and the Heritage House Guild. Jenny was a past Noble Grand of Lotus Rebecca Lodge #87.

Some of Jenny's hobbies included playing cards, cake decorating, fishing, and playing the electric organ. Jenny wanted everyone to know how much she loved her family and dear friends. Her great-grandkids have wonderful memories of her and will always treasure the time they spent together. She looked forward to family gatherings that usually included her delicious cooking.

Jenny will be deeply missed by her son, Jim (Margaret) Lowary of Atlantic; grandchildren, Jeff (Denise) Lowary of Atlantic, Deanna (Daman) Mott Vacaville, CA, and Becky Steffens of Atlantic; five great-grandchildren, Derek, Cole and Annamaria Lowary and Damanique and Delaney Mott; sister, Elva (Robert) Lilly of Greenfield; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Harold Lowary (1969) and Wilmer Farley (1978); and brother, Elan Allen (1981).

Memorials services will be held at a later date.
