Hazel Essington

Hazel K. Essington, 93, of Atlantic, Iowa passed away Friday morning, March 1, 2002, at the Atlantic Nursing And Rehab Center.The daughter of Claus Henry and Agnes (Miller) Kay, Hazel was born May 14, 1908 north of Atlantic. She attended Pymosa #5 country school, graduated from Atlantic High School in 1927 and went to college for one year at Ames. She was united in marriage to Frank Robert Essington on November 25, 1931. They lived in Audubon County from 1931 to 1986. Hazel was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Church Circle, Neighborhood Clubs and Card Clubs.Surviving are her son Otto Essington and his wife Pam of Kimballton; a daughter Charlotte Bopp and her husband Walt of Carmel, Indiana; and son Robert Essington and his wife Dianna of Atlantic; nine grandchildren, James Essington and his wife Theresa of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Lori Grittner and her husband Mike of Pillager, Minnesota, Lisa Des Marias and her husband Joe of Staples, Minnesota Brenda Essington of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mike Essington of Spencer, Iowa, Linda Garriott and her husband Kenny of Indianapolis, Indiana, Sherry Book and her husband Bart of Carmel, Indiana, Tanya Jensen and her husband Eric of Brayton, Iowa, William Essington of Omaha, Nebraska; 14 great-grandchildren; three nieces.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank Essington, April 16, 1987; two brothers, Gail Kay and Carl Kay.Roland Funeral Service -- Atlantic, IowaFuneral InformationA graveside service for Hazel will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2005, at the Atlantic Cemetery at Atlantic, Iowa at 10:00 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic with Rev.
