Cecil Erickson
Cecil Loyd Erickson, 87, a former resident of Cumberland, Iowa passed away Sunday, April 20, 2003, at the Exira Care Center.The son of Loyd and Rose Erickson, Cecil was born in Mitchell, Nebraska on November 12, 1915. The family moved south of Cumberland when Cecil was one year old where he attended Cumberland rural school.Cecil was married to Emma Lou Liston on March 1, 1941 in Lewis, Iowa. Following their marriage, they farmed south of Cumberland with the exception of spending several years south of Massena.Surviving are two sons, Jack Erickson and his wife, Janet, of Cumberland and Ron Erickson and his wife, Kelly, of Cumberland; one daughter, Marian Stewart of Cumberland; eight grandchildren, Gina Pickrell and her husband, Virgil, of Council Bluffs, Peggy Schrier and her husband, Daryl, of Cumberland, Pat and his wife, LeAnn, of Massena, Nicole Smith and her husband, Bill, of Colorado Springs, Travis Erickson of Cumberland, Lisa Michaels of Council Bluffs, Charmin Sterbenz and her husband, Scott, of Grimes, Cynthia Amdor of Cumberland, Rana Thompsen and her husband, Jeff, of Cumberland; fifteen great grandchildren; one brother, Gail Erickson and his wife, Ruby, of Atlantic; one sister, Maudelene Carlson of Clarinda and a number of nieces and nephews.Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers, Clair, Wayne and Don Erickson; a daughter-in-law Joan Erickson; a son-in-law, Bill Stewart; a brother-in-law, Leroy Carlson and one grandson, Brian Stewart.Funeral InformationA graveside service for Cecil was held April 20, 2003, at 1:30 P.M. at the Reno Township Cemetery southwest of Cumberland, Iowa. Pastor Bob Beard from the Cumberland Methodist Church officiated.
