Ned Embree

Ned Dexter Embree, 85, died peacefully at Haven Manor in Lincoln, Nebraska on Sunday, March 27, 2005. Ned was born in Pleasant Township in Cass County, Iowa, the son of Lisle and Margaret (Thompson) Embree. He was a graduate of Iowa State University and held a mechanical engineering degree which was used during his work for General Electric in Massachusetts, during World War II. Ned was married to Ramona Elizabeth Havens June 4, 1950 at Noble Center United Methodist Church. The couple enjoyed raising a family and farming four miles west of Elliot, IA for 35 years. He retired in 1984 when they moved to Atlantic, IA where they lived for 19 years. They then lived in Seward, NE for two and a half years. Ned took his family on a number of vacations and loved to read and to watch storms. He was a quiet man and very well educated. He liked all subjects. Ned"s survivors include his wife, Ramona; his daughter, Elaine Sigmund; and sons, Joseph Embree and David Embree and his brother, Bryce Embree.He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marie Clausen. Services will be held at the Roland Funeral at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 30, 2005, with Pastor Lowell Schaaf of the Maple Grove United Methodist Church officiating. The committal will take place in the Noble Center United Methodist Cemetery.
