Louis Dale Edwards
Louis "Bus&" Dale Edwards, 73, of Cumberland, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 17, 2001, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.The son of George Lewis and Mary (Brown) Edwards, Bus was born March 30, 1928 in Cumberland where he grew up, graduated from Cumberland High School in 1946, and lived his entire life. On May 20, 1978, he was united in marriage to Pauline Havens Randolph at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Bus was the Owner of Edwards Garage, self-employed as a mechanic for 44 years, retiring in 1999. He served several terms as Mayor of Cumberland; several terms on the Cumberland City Council; 54 years on the Cumberland Fire Department and was chief of the fire department for many years. He was also a member of the Iowa Firemen's Association since 1951, and a member of the Iowa certified mechanics and Eagles Lodge in Creston.Surviving are his wife, Pauline of Cumberland; three sons, Dale Edwards and his wife, Glenda, of Guthrie Center, Don Edwards and his wife, Linda, of Massena and Steve Edwards of Corning; eight grandchildren, Shelli Larson and her husband, Rob, Lori Edwards, Raymond Edwards and his wife, Dahlia, Jodi Shanno and her husband, Shawn, Janet and Jill Edwards, Nick and Wendy Edwards; three great-grandchildren, Cole Larsen, Paige and Derek Shanno; one sister, Thelma Rose Mullin of Scottsdale, Arizona; brothers and sisters in-law, Don Havens and his wife, Colleene, of Cedar Falls, Lawrence Havens and his wife, Kathy, of Wiota, and Marge Bates of Underwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Edwards; and siblings, Clifford, Glen at age 3, Hazel Durham, Opal, Evelyn Hemphill, Helen in infancy, Lucille Tibkin and Valerie Dory.Funeral InformationServices for "Bus" were held on Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at 1:30PM at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic with Don Drager, Bob Blankenship, Bud Hollar and Mark Madison delivering the eulogy.Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery, Cumberland, Iowa.
