Mable (Amy) Earhart, 92, of Atlantic, Iowa, and formerly of Altoona, died Thursday, August 13, 2020, at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.
Mable was born on November 9, 1927, on a farm south of Fonda, Iowa, the daughter of Clyde August and Alvina Alma (Ohrtman) Geisinger. Mable was the sixth of eight children born to Clyde and Alvina. Mable attended school in Fonda and Lake City, Iowa, and graduated in 1944 at the age of 16. Mable played the snare drum in band and was Homecoming Queen Attendant during her high school years.
On June 19, 1946, Mable was united in marriage to Ray Earhart. During their marriage, they lived in Iowa, Nebraska and New Mexico. Mable and Ray were blessed with three children, Mitchell, Kristi and Tamara. In 1993, they settled in Altoona, Iowa.
Mable worked as a secretary/bookkeeper, office manager for a doctor’s clinic and medical secretary. Mable enjoyed dancing, horse racing and bowling and was especially proud that she once bowled a 280. Mable supported her children and grandchildren in their activities, as well as the Chicago Cubs, Iowa State Cyclones and Iowa Hawkeyes. Mable was tickled to see the Chicago Cubs win the World Series once in her lifetime.
Mable is survived by two daughters, Kristi (Eldon) Dorsey and Tami (Chuck) Fisher; seven grandchildren, Mindi Dorsey, Brett (Steph) Dorsey, Amanda (Ryan) Graham, Katie Bredlow, Courtney Bredlow, Clay Earhart and Clint (Angie) Earhart; step-granddaughter, Alecia (Dakota) Fisher Pardekooper; eight great-grandchildren, Chloe, Joselyn, Sophie, Blaize, Aubrey, Astelle, Eli and Dylan. Mable is also survived by daughter-in-law, Deb Earhart and her daughter, Katie Hockett, and nieces, nephews and many others who will miss her smile.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Ray; parents; son Mitchell; three brothers and their spouses, Lou (Darlene), Bob (Rolla), Kenny (Patricia) and four sisters and their spouses, Viola (Bill) Nehman, Laura (Mel) Onnen, Marcella (Bill) Tracy and Virginia (Raymond) Amsden.
Visitation, with the family present, will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 16th at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 17th at the Altoona Cemetery in Altoona, Iowa.
