Roger Allen Duskin
ROGER A. DUSKIN Roger Allen Duskin, 62, of Atlantic, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines on Friday evening, May 13, 2011. Roger was born October 2, 1948, in Atlantic, the son of Cecil and Evelyn Duskin. He lived in Lewis and attended school in Lewis and Adair-Casey, graduating with the Anita Class of 1967. Growing up, he worked with his parents on the farm. He entered the United States Army in 1968 and served in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1974. Roger worked for Henningsen Construction, Bandag Rubber, Venetian Iron Company, American Buildings, and Central Western Fabrication. He enjoyed spending time with family, bowling, the Hawkeyes, and NASCAR. He is survived by; his mother Evelyn Duskin of Atlantic; his sister Sandra Schmeling and her husband Bruce of Casey, IA; sister-in-law Karen Duskin of Johnston, nieces, Julie Schmeling of Casey, Jenn King (John) of Atlantic, and Jo (Spc. Ben) Ketchum of Oak Grove, KY; nephews, Craig Duskin of St. Paul, MN, and Scott Duskin of Johnston; great niece Marie Ketchum, and great nephew Parker King. He is preceded in death by his father, Cecil Duskin in 1994; his sister, Diana in infancy in 1952, and his brother Gary Duskin in 2005.Funeral Information There will be Open Visitation at Roland Funeral Home, in Atlantic, on Monday, May 16 from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. when the Family Will Meet With Friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, May 17 also at Roland Funeral Home. Pastor Earlin Shanno of Oakland Christian Church will officiate. There will be Grave Side Military Honors performed by the Atlantic Color Guard in the Atlantic Cemetery.
