Bobbie Dunn
Bobbie Dunn, age 79, a long time resident of Atlantic, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 23, 2003, at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center.She was born on November 24, 1923, to Herman and Olive (Jones) Wilken in Atlantic and graduated from the Atlantic High School in 1940. Bobbie attended one year at the University of Iowa and then moved to South Bend, IN. She married George Dunn on November 18, 1944 in South Bend and from this union three children were born. Mr. Dunn passed away on May 23, 1957. In August of 1961 Bobbie moved back to Atlantic with her three children. She was a homemaker and helped her brother with the Wilken Monument business in Atlantic. She also served as a girl scout leader, member of the League of Women Voters, was an avid reader, and she loved to follow sports. Later Bobbie was employed with Walton Products. From 1975 to 1980, she lived in Omaha and was secretary for the jail chaplain ministers for Douglas county where she enjoyed teaching the inmates how to read and write. She returned to Atlantic around 1985.Bobbie is survived by a daughter Jane and her husband Fred Kay of Atlantic; four grandchildren, Amy and her husband Lt. Col. Chris Williams of Holloman Air Force Base, NM; Scott Kay and his wife Tara of Noblesville, IN, Brian Joyce of Omaha, NE and Yvonne and her husband Capt. James Morse of Fort Benning, GA; six great- grandchildren, Megan, Paige and Jonathon Williams, Kaitlin and Blaine Morse and Abby Kay; one sister Betty Draman of Huntington Beach, CA; several nieces, nephews and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband George; a daughter Laurie Joyce; a son John Dunn and a brother John WilkenFuneral Information
