Janice Duben, 66, of Atlantic, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at her home in Atlantic.

Janice Louise was born on January 12, 1953, in Maryville, Missouri, the daughter of Earl James and Lillian Florence (Semmons) Linthicum. She grew up in Tarkio, Missouri and lived various places as an adult.

On November 10, 1999, she was united in marriage to Francis “Duby” Duben in Rock Port, Missouri. The couple lived in Oakland for two years until making Atlantic Home in 2001. Janice and Duby enjoyed time together and would frequently watch Western’s. Throughout her life she worked various places as a cashier and in housekeeping and wasn’t ever one to shy away from volunteering. She volunteered at the Francis Women’s Shelter in Omaha and at Atlantic Specialty Care helping with various activities including BINGO. Janice was proud to be a member of the Hospital Auxiliary at the Cass County Health Systems.

Janice attended First Assembly of God in Atlantic and was always willing to help when needed. She stayed busy gardening, doing puzzles, playing cards, Canasta being a favorite, and playing the countless games on her phone. Janice was a loving and caring mother and looked forward to spending time with family and regularly attended the annual Semmons reunion. She will be dearly missed by her beloved dog, Gizzy.

Janice is survived by her children, Christina Ellison of Atlantic, Kenny Poe of Shenandoah, Brad Smith of Atlantic, and Kristal (Jim) Fulk of Atlantic; grandchildren, Jacob Fulk, James and Shannon Lilly, and Jessica Crum and Kenny Crum; great-grandchildren, Dustin Hanson and Montana Crum; brother, Russell Linthicum, Sr. of Atlantic; sister, Julia (Mark) Daugherty Rock Port, Missouri; and nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Lillian Linthicum; husband, Francis “Duby” Duben; daughter, Cynthia Smith; and brothers, Steve and David Linthicum.

Open visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday, May 13th and from 8:00 a.m. until time of service, Tuesday, May 14th at Roland Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, with Guy Fisher of the First Assembly of God in Atlantic officiating. Following the service, the family invites you to the First Assembly of God church for a luncheon and time of visitation with the family.
