Francis D "Duby" Duben
Francis "Duby" David Duben, 72, of Atlantic, passed away Monday, August 1, at Atlantic Specialty Care.
Francis was born September 1, 1943, to Francis and Margaret (Sisk) Duben in Omaha, Nebraska. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith in Creston, Iowa. He attended Creston Community Schools graduating with the Class of 1962. After school he helped his parent's on the family farm near Kent, Iowa. On November 19, 1968, he enlisted in the United States Army. During his tour of duty he was stationed in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri as a cook. He was honorably discharged on March 4, 1970. He was then employed with Henningsen Construction in Atlantic on the asphalt crew.
On November 10, 1999, he was united in marriage to Janice Linthicum in Rock Port, Missouri. They lived in Oakland for two years before they made their home in Atlantic. He was employed as a telemarketer for numerous years before he was forced to retire due to his failing health in 2001. Francis enjoyed their home in Atlantic until he moved to Atlantic Specialty Care in August of 2014. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Francis loved to do anything outdoors especially fishing and gardening.
Francis is survived by his wife, Janice Duben of Atlantic; his step children: Christina Ellison of Atlantic, Kenneth Poe of Shenandoah, Iowa, Brad Smith of Atlantic, Kristal (Jimmy) Fulk of Atlantic; his step grandchildren: Jessica (Kenny) Crum of Sidney, Iowa, James Lily and his son Dustin of Wiota, Jacob Fulk of Atlantic; his brother-in-law: Russell Linthicum of Atlantic; his sister-in-law: Julia (Mark) Daugherty of Rock Port, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers-in-law: Steve and David Linthicum.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 5, 2016, at 3:00 P.M. at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic with Father Mike Berner officiating. Family will meet with friends Thursday, August 4th, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Roland Funeral Home. Open visitation will be held Thursday from 8 to 5:00 P.M. and Friday from 8:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the Roland Funeral Home. Roland Funeral Service is caring for Francis's family and his arrangements.
