Vera Marie Dreager
Vera Marie Dreager, 83, of Atlantic passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2001, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.The daughter of Ray and Anna (Gunderson) Keith, Vera was born February 21, 1918, in Atlantic. She grew up southeast of Wiota and graduated from the Wiota High School in 1935. She then attended the Atlantic High School for a teaching course and taught rural country schools in the Atlantic area. Her marriage to Richard Dreager took place June 21, 1941 in Atlantic. Following marriage, they farmed for 36 years southeast of Atlantic. Vera was employed at the Cass County Memorial Hospital from 1969 to 1984. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic and taught Sunday School. She was a 4-H leader, a hospital volunteer and was active in community groups. Vera also loved to quilt and camp with friends.
Surviving are one son Paul Dreager and his wife Vanessa of Atlantic; six grandchildren, Mike Dreager of Atlantic, Sarah Swain and her husband Doug of Ames, Iowa, Ryan Dreager of Atlantic, Lindsey Dreager and her fiance, TJ Wright of Manhattan, Kansas, Curtis Dreager and Charles Dreager, both of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two nieces, Mary Jo Nelson and her husband Gary of Atlantic and Carol Gill and her husband Pete of Omaha, Nebraska; and several great nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son Roger, and one brother Clyde Keith.
A committal service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2001, at 10:00 AM at the Atlantic Cemetery. Rev. Craig Palmer will officiate.
