Obituary for Marie F. Drake

Marie Francis Drake, 92, a longtime resident of Atlantic, Iowa passed away Tuesday, November 7th, 2006 at the Cass County Memorial Hopital in Atlantic, Iowa. She was a resident of the Colonial Manor in Anita.Marie was born March 27th, 1914, in Atlantic, Iowa the daughter of Thomas and Anna Gaffey. She attended Atlantic Schools and lived her entire life in Cass County. November 14th, 1945 Marie married Wythial Edward Drake in Topeka, Kansas. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a self sacrificing, kind, thoughtful, generous, gracious and loving person. She leaves fond memories for her friendliness from associations in her work places. Over the years, Marie worked for Atlantic Laundry, Montgomery Wards, The Pines, and in the cafeteria of the Atlantic Public Schools. She was a member of the BPO Does and loved bowling, dancing, reading, family functions and annual winter vacations to Texas.Marie is survived by; her husband of sixty years Wythial E. Drake; Two sons, William P. Ellis of Elk Grove, IL and Ronald E. Drake of Exira, IA; 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Anna Gaffey; and a son, Bobby Ellis.Condolences may be sent to the family through the Roland web site at www.rolandfuneralservice.comFuneral InformationVisitation Services: Friday morning, before the funeral from 10:00-11:00am at the church. There is open visitation for Marie Drake at Roland Funeral Home. Funeral Services: 11:00 am Friday November, 10th, 2006 at the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, Iowa. Father Dan Siepker will be officiating. Burial: Atlantic Catholic Cemetery
