Betty A Drager
Betty A. Drager, 88, of Olive Branch, Mississippi, and formerly of Cumberland, Iowa, passed away Friday, September 4, 2015, at her home.
The daughter of Charles Steven and Gertrude (Gordon) Bissell, Betty Arlene was born on November 27, 1926, in Massena, Iowa. She was baptized in the United Methodist Church in Cumberland, Iowa. As she grew, she attended rural school near Massena and later the Massena High School.
Betty was united in marriage to Donald Louis Drager on July 21, 1941 in Springfield, MO. Seven children were born to this union. Betty was a stay at home mother and enjoyed taking care of her home and family.
Betty was a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, camping, and dancing with her husband, Donald. Nothing made her happier than when she held a good book or a great pinochle hand. . She was on hand anytime a game was available, be it Dominoes, Yahtzee, Phase 10, or any board game. In her later years, she delighted to be a part of the Red Hat Society. Spending time with her family was by far her greatest joy and she never, ever, ever missed remembering a birthday or anniversary of her loved ones.
Betty is survived by her children, Karen Vickers and her husband, Vant of Olive Branch, MS, Jeron Drager and his wife, Barbara of Cameron, MO, Joyce Drager of Middletown, OH, Doyle Drager and his wife, Cheryl of Kidder, MO, Darla Drager and friend Patty Rosas of Mora, NM, Cheryl Goodwin and her husband, Richard of Davenport, IA; son-in-law, Dannie Moon of Waynesville, MO; grandchildren, Vant “Buddy” Vickers and his fiancée, Lisa Labrie, Derek Drager and his wife, Ashley, Christopher Drager and his wife, Lindsey, Justin Drager, Donald Nunez, and Hillary Goodwin; step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Georgia Drager, Hunter Drager, Jacob Drager, Preston Drager, Kyler Drager, Ty Drager, Abigail Drager, Mayson Drager, Channler Drager, Tristan Risi, Ari Goodwin, and Trevor Moon; sisters, Shirley Warne and her husband, Kendal of Atlantic, IA and Audrey Nielsen of Lewis, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald; daughter, Denise Drager Moon; her parents; her brothers, Marvin and his wife, Ethel Bissell, Virgil and his wife, Maude Bissell, and Earl and his wife, Irene Bissell.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, with Pastor Casey Pelzer of the Cumberland United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Massena Cemetery, north of Massena, IA.
