Mark DeShong

Mark R. DeShong Mark DeShong, 40, passed away at his home in Atlantic, Iowa on Friday, November 14, 2008. Mark Richard DeShong was born the son of Anthea (Pridmore) DeShong on November 1, 1968 in Kettering, England. At age seven he moved to Carson, Iowa where he graduated with the Carson Macedonia high school class of 1988. He then moved to Tennessee before going to Alaska where he lived six years. He settled in Atlantic where he met Donna Jean Davidson, his significant other. The couple, together, enjoyed their family. He was employed with Walmart in Atlantic. Mark loved to fish and hunt and to play with his dog Jada. He especially loved hanging out with Donna and the kids. As a student, Mark took pleasure in running (a track star for his high school); movies, "Cheech & Chong,&" "Nice Dreams,&" and "Mad Max&"; songs, "Still Live&" by Iron Maiden and&"Stranglehold&" by Ted Nugent; foods, steak, fried eggs and French fries; and a memory his mother will treasure was a statement he made in response to an interview in which he said, "The person I respect the most is My mom, without her I wouldn"t be here.&" He is survived by his partner, Donna, his children: a daughter Bailey Mae DeShong of Atlantic, a son Andrew Steven DeShong and stepchildren, Jeannie Brooke Davidson, Jessica Bryn Davidson and Justin Boyd Davidson, all of Atlantic.; his mother, Anthea DeShong of Oakland; a brother Marshall DeShong of North Carolina; uncles Robert Pridmore and Nickolas Pridmore both of Kettering, England; a niece Mikaela Brown of Oakland; and a maternal grandmother Patricia Mary Pridmore of Kettering England; a great uncle Peter Pridmore of Pytchley, England; and a number of cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Geoffrey Pridmore.Funeral InformationThere will be open visitation at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic through Tuesday, November 18. The family will be available on Tuesday evening to meet with friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Mark"s funeral will be held at Roland Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19. Pastor Chris Campbell of Treynor, IA, will officiate.
