Thank you note:
We want to express deep appreciation for the support we received when the sun set on our sweet boy, Denson.
It was a miraculous feeling that the local community extended their long-time tradition of stepping forward to offer prayers, financial gifts and loving remembrances during such an unimaginable time.
We are grateful for the generosity of Roland’s in making us comfortable and continuing their tradition of gifting their services and connecting us with local organizations who lifted the burden of other associated burial costs.
Memories of Denson’s radiant smile will forever be a blessing! He walked the halls of Washington Elementary delightfully singing Akon’s “Beautiful Day” and let’s all remember as the lyrics say… “God, thank you, for sunshine, thank you for the rain, thank you for joy, thank you for pain, it’s a beautiful day, it’s a beautiful day.”
Though the pain of missing him is like a scar on all who loved him, it will become precious in time with warm memories and healing.

Obituary:
The sun rose on Denson Ruben on October 11, 2016, in Honolulu, Hawaii, the son of Niko Nikiti and Sailyn Aten. His sun set August 12, 2025, at Children’s Nebraska in Omaha, at the age of 8. REST IN PARADISE, OUR SWEET BOY!
Denson was well known as a happy, open-hearted guy with a radiant smile that was one-of-a-kind! He loved playing and spending time with his friends, reading, and the color red.
He was very engaged in his church, the Island Community Church, and a leader among the kinder; reminding them of what they needed to bring with them, to pay attention and encouraging them to be a part of the youth activities. Rec time for the adults at the church was often spent playing volleyball, but that didn’t matter to him, he stepped right in!
The staff at Washington Elementary loved him and they were blessed by his fun spirit and smile. They also shared that he was, indeed, one of kind, loved music and singing, and in a positive way their little Boss Man!
Though the pain of missing him is like a scar on all who love him, it will become precious in time with warm memories and healing.
The family welcomes all those that wish to pay their respects, including, teachers, school staff, classmates and friends, to attend an open visitation that will begin at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, September 6th at Roland Funeral Home.
Following the visitation on Saturday the 6th, a prayer service will begin at 11:00 a.m., that will include an opening prayer and remembrances from staff at Washington Elementary and church leaders. At the conclusion of the prayer service a time of traditional mourning will be held until 2:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Southlawn Memory Gardens in Atlantic at 3:00 p.m., Saturday.
On behalf of Denson’s family and the entire Micronesian community they want to express their deepest appreciation to the emergency responders and everyone who prayed for them or reached out offering support and words of comfort, especially the Atlantic Community Schools.
The family encourages words of comfort and memories to be shared on the guest book below. All entries will be reviewed before they are posted.
