Delores (Wolters) Reeder

Delores (Wolters) Reeder, 72, of Atlantic, Iowa, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at home surrounded by her family.

She was born at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, on August 11, 1949 and raised in Grundy Center, Iowa. Delores was the youngest of eight children born to Henry J. and Jacobena Wilhelmine (Meester) Wolters. Her mother had ten siblings (8 sisters, 2 brothers) so there were plenty of Sunday visits and other family gatherings to attend and play with her cousins.

Delores graduated from Grundy Center High School in 1967 and had looked forward to attending her 55th class reunion this year. She attended the Medical Institute of Minnesota following high school and completed the laboratory technology program. She later received an Associate Degree from Iowa Western Community College.

She was employed as a lab technologist (CLS, NCA) at Cass County Memorial Hospital for many years. Delores then worked at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines before retiring in 2008 for health reasons.

Delores married Lloyd Reeder on June 19, 1971 in Grundy Center, Iowa. They have lived in Atlantic since 1972. Four children were born to this union: Jeff, Jodi, Michael and Mark. Life was hectic with four children and full employment. The kids remember her as a devoted, loving mom who always took their side in disciplinary matters. Delores loved to attend their activities throughout jr. high school, high school and college. She even drove to Florida by herself to watch spring softball games. She is famous with her children for texting what they called “ma-vels”. She loved her grandchildren: visiting, playing and giving them presents, oh, the presents.

Delores is survived by her husband, Lloyd Reeder; children: Jeff (Michelle) Reeder, Jodi (Scott) Leimkuehler, Michael (Nicole Galietta, partner) Reeder and Mark (Sara) Reeder; grandchildren: Ariel (Nate) Sinnott, Jeffrey Reeder, Jr., Henry Reeder, Garrett Leimkuehler, Emersyn Leimkuehler, Grayson Reeder and Rocklyn Reeder; sisters: Gertrude Wessels, Elaine Viet, and Martha (Stephen) Hawes; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Henry and Jacobena (Meester) Wolters; parents-in-law, Ralph and Marie Reeder; sisters, Jeanette Wolters, Ruth Wolters and Johanna Rottink; half-sisters, Anna Pagel and Jennie Claassen; brother, John Wolters; brothers-in-law, Paul Wessels, Don Rottink, Ben Viet, Leland Dellinger, Vern Pagel, Alvin Claassen and Cecil Reeder; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation with the family present will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 3, 2022, at Roland Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic.  The funeral will be livestreamed on the First United Presbyterian Church YouTube page.  Burial will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
