Vesta Mae Dahl
Vesta Mae Dahl, 85, a resident of the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2001, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.The daughter of Emmett Lee and Alma (Solberg) Smith, Vesta was born January 5, 1916, in Sioux City and lived there until the age of 14. She graduated from Climbing Hill High School east of Sioux City in 1933. On May 6, 1939, Vesta was united in marriage to Francis Christopher Dahl in Kansas City, Missouri. Following married they lived in Omaha and also Woodbury County will Francis served in the United States Air Corps. They moved to Atlantic in 1951. Vesta was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic. She worked for the J C Penney Co. and for Dr. John Weresh at the Atlantic Medical Center for many years.She is survived by two sons, Chris Dahl and his wife, Willa, of Geneseo, Illinois and Greg Dahl and his wife, Nancy, of Comstock Park, Michigan; four grandchildren, Jennie Dahl and her fiancé, Kevin Norton, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Andrea Paterson and her husband, Jason, of Peoria, Illinois, Eric Dahl of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Reagan Dahl of Comstock Park, Michigan; one great-grandson, Lucas Paterson; one sister, Jean Hora and her husband, David, of Tryon, Nebraska; one brother-in-law, Marvin Dahl of Bellingham, Washington; and five nieces and nephews, Mary Biddle and her husband, Joe, of Arvada, Colorado, Julie Kelly and her husband, Don of Kingston, Washington, Christy Porter and her husband, Al, of Seattle, Washington, Roy Dahl and his wife, Kathy of Snohomish, Washington, and Jeff Dahl of Bellingham, Washington.Proceeding her in death were her parents; her husband, Francis Christopher Dahl, in 1993; and one grandson, Nathan Dahl in 1998.Funeral InformationServices for Vesta were held Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at 10:30 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic, Iowa with Pastor Ron Barnett officiating. Interment was in the Atlantic Cemetery at Atlantic, Iowa.
