Helen Dahl

Helen Mae Dahl, age 93, formerly of Atlantic passed away Tuesday evening, October, 23, 2001, at the Regency Care Center in Norwalk, Iowa.The daughter of John William and Lillian (Evans) Boren, Helen was born June 25, 1908 in McCool Junction, Nebraska where she grew up and graduated from McCool Junction High School. She then attended and graduated from Grand Island Business College. Her marriage to Roy Fredrick Dahl took place on July 6, 1932 in Fremont, Nebraska. Following marriage they lived in Fremont and Seward, Nebraska and then moved to Atlantic in 1958. Helen was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic.Surviving are one daughter Shirley A. Mellecker-Hanson and her husband Richard L. of West Des Moines, Iowa; four grandchildren, Kirk D. Mellecker and wife Diane of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Brent E. Mellecker and wife Amy of Naperville, Illinois, Blake G. Mellecker and wife Kathy of Yorkville, Illinois and Melissa A. Clarke and husband Tom of West Des Moines, Iowa; seven great-grandchildren, Blake, Tyler, Nicole and Justin Mellecker, Joe Clarke, Jordan Mellecker and Jack Clarke; one sister, Grace Kemp of Malibu, California and a number of nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy; three brothers, Clifford, Hobart and Howard and two sisters, Alma and Jo.Funeral InformationA visitation will be held Friday afternoon, October 26, 2001, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. This will be followed by a graveside service at 2:30 PM at the Atlantic Cemetery with the Rev. Tompsie Smith of the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic officiating.
