Dacee Tasto, 44, of Atlantic, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at her home, with her family by her side.
Dacee Lin was born on August 16, 1978, in Atlantic, Iowa, the daughter of Douglas J. and Linda Kay (Trenkle) McLaren. She graduated from Griswold High School and earned her Associates Degree at Iowa Western Community College and her Bachelor’s Degree at Bellevue University.
Dacee’s kids were her #1; she was the proud mom of Savanna, Kaden and Ciara and welcomed son, Colten with open arms when she started dating his dad, Jared in 2013. The couple first noticed each other at the kids’ school and sporting events and a short time later the relationship was encouraged by family and friends telling Jared she was a keeper. Dacee and Jared made each other complete and spent the last 10 years living life to the fullest! That time was spent going to concerts and trips with the kids and their friend groups; the Ozarks and Colorado being a few of the favorites. Some of the most special memories though were created right out their back door at home on the patio talking and listening to music. The patio was a project the couple worked on together that was brightened up by the flowers they planted to make it beautiful. The couple married on January 29, 2023.
In June of 2013, Dacee joined the Cass County Communications Center as a 911 Dispatcher. Dacee excelled in her new role, often taking on extra responsibilities and quickly gained the trust of her coworkers. Her dependability, dedication to service, and positive attitude paired with her ability to keep her composure during even the most tragic incidents, allowed her to make a difference in the lives of over 14,000 people in the Cass County area and helped to ensure the men and women depending on her on the other end of the radio made it home safely to their families each night. In January of 2023, after nearly 10 years, she selflessly resigned from the Communications Center to continue her battle and spend as much quality time as she could with those who meant the most to her, her friends and family.
Dacee battled fiercely for 17 months never complaining and always keeping her faith and trust in God.
The impact that Dacee made on those around her is something that leaves you without words and will never be forgotten. Maybe it was her confidence, maybe her smile; she was just one of those people that after you met it was an instant reaction of Wow, I want to be friends with her. She wasn’t a stranger to hard work, doing anything she had to do to make sure her family was provided for. Dacee was genuine to the core with her love, compassion, ability to forgive and overall zest for life.
Dacee’s kind and loving spirit will be deeply missed by her husband, Jared Tasto; children, Savanna, Colten (Sophie Brockman), Kaden and Ciara; mom, Linda McLaren; dad, Doug (LuAnn) McLaren; brothers, Deric McLaren and Devin McLaren; step-sister, Traci (Will) Knoll; step-brother, Dillon (Alicia) Combs; nieces and nephews, Abbie, Chase, Dylan, Sydney, Cael, Ava, Jack, Max, Peyton, Cael, Landon, Wyatt, Alex and Maddy; mother-in-law, Nancy Tasto; sister-in-law, Jenny (Matt) Williams; brother-in-law, Jason Tasto; grandparents, Bob and Norma Jean Lindeman and Beverly Tasto; her most awesomeness friend; Christy Casey; and numerous aunts, uncles and friends.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Wade J. McLaren; grandparents, Kenneth and Louise McLaren, Joe and Betty Trenkle and Merlin Tasto; and father-in-law, Rick Tasto.
