Obituary for Clifford Conklin Jr.

Clifford Conklin, Jr., age 84, a long time resident of Atlantic, passed away Monday morning, January 17, 2005 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa. He lived at the Heritage House for the past five years.Clifford was born in Atlantic on June 24, 1920 to Clifford Benjamin and Lorna (Lang) Conklin. He attended the Atlantic schools. On January 10, 1948, in Jackson, MN, Clifford was joined in marriage to Betty Butler. Born to this union were two daughters. Clifford worked for many years at the Conklin Bakery family business. He was also custodian for Walnut Grove Products for 17 years. He enjoyed spending time with family and was a devoted father and grandfather. Clifford was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. His interests included fishing, crossword puzzles and love of antique cars. He attended the First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife Betty; their two daughters; Pat Saltmarsh of Atlantic and Karen Hoff and husband Jerry of Fontanelle; six grandchildren, Ted Ballinger of Walnut, Colleen Williams and husband Adam of Omaha, NE, Chris Saltmarsh and wife Vanessa of Waukee, Rachel Blake of Pittsburgh, PA; Renee Blake of Fontanelle, and Ryan Blake of Maryville, MO; great grandchildren, Amanda Williams, Zack Williams, Jordan Williams, Jesse Ballinger, Laura Ballinger, Lucas Saltmarsh and a number of nieces and nephews. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jean Marie Conklin in infancy and Janis Heath; his son-in-law Rusty Ballinger and two grandchildren, Rebecca Blake and Brandon Williams.Funeral InformationIN LOVING MEMORY OFCLIFFORD J.
