LEILA MARIE CHRISTENSEN Leila Marie Christensen, a resident of Wiota, Iowa, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 29, 2008, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa at the age of 74. Leila Marie Christensen was born to Harlie and Esther (Nelson) Cue on May 9, 1934 at Atlantic, Iowa. She attended the Atlantic School System. On March 9, 1952 Leila was united in marriage to Kenneth Eugene Christensen in Atlantic, Iowa. She worked at the Woolworth store in Atlantic for awhile. In 1954 they started farming in the Lewis-Griswold area and later moved south of Wiota in 1966 and have lived there until the present. As a young girl she loved to roller skate. Leila enjoyed taking pictures, playing cards, camping and shopping but most of all she enjoyed her family. Leila is survived by her husband Kenneth of Wiota; five children, Dannie and wife Dee Christensen of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Dale Christensen of Hallettsville, Texas, Diane and husband Joe Denney of Anita, Iowa, David and wife Mona Christensen of Anita, Iowa and Deann Dee and husband Kelly Koenig of Jonestown, Texas; grandchildren, Cherie Petty, Peggy Christensen, Keri and Josh Christensen, Stacy Hedrick, T. J. Christensen, Quinn, Estel, Nina and Jad Denney, Emily and Dalton Christensen, Shannyn Kandl and Timothy Koenig; sixteen great-grandchildren; special family friends, Robert and wife Pat Dennis of Atlantic; sister Beulah and husband Ron Ostrus; sisters-in-law, Lois Anson, Lorraine Howell and Lyla and husband Tom Good; brother-in-law Jim and wife Gladys Christensen. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harlie and Esther Cue; a brother Donald Cue; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Marie Christensen, brothers-in-law Ed Elmquist and Marvin Howell.Funeral InformationHer services are set for 1:30 Wednesday afternoon, July 2, at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa with Pastor Bonnie Petersen of the Wiota Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
