Charlotte Ann Boudle

Charlotte Boudle, 77, of Atlantic, died, Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa.

Charlotte Ann (Weaver) Boudle was born on July 15, 1946, the daughter of Ralph and Erma Weaver, in Marquette, Nebraska.  She grew up in Cumberland, IA where her father Ralph, was the town doctor.  She graduated from Cumberland/Massena High School in 1964.  After graduation, she enrolled in Nebraska College of Business in Omaha, NE graduating from the program in 1965.

While in Omaha, she met William Samuel Boudle, who was stationed at Offutt Airforce Base as an air policeman.   They wed in Treynor, IA on November 19, 1965.  While still in Omaha, they welcomed two sons (Brent and Michael) before moving to Bill’s home state of New Hampshire upon the end of his military career.  While in New Hampshire, they welcomed a daughter, Shannon, to the family.

In the summer of 1979, they moved to Odebolt, IA where Bill ran the sewage treatment plant, and Charlotte worked as a secretary at the Ida Grove High School.  In 1980, they moved to Atlantic where they resided until their passing.  Bill eventually started his own pest control business, Atlantic Pest Control.   Charlotte began work in 1980 at the Atlantic Coca-Cola Bottling Company, as a bookkeeper.  She retired in the summer of 2010, after 30 years of work with the company.

Charlotte’s hobbies included horses in her youth, watching and identifying birds, doing yardwork and planting flowers.  Charlotte and Bill were avid campers and spent many weekends at Anita State Park.   She and her daughter Shannon, would enjoy many weekends shopping and challenging each other to find the “best deal of the day!”  She loved going to her sons’ sporting events and being a “mom” to any friends they brought home.  In the later years she enjoyed caring for her grandchildren.

Anyone who knew the Boudle’s knew that the door was always open and anyone who walked through the door was treated as family.  If you were hungry, Charlotte would feed you.  If you needed something, she would give it to you.  You were never judged, but rather accepted, faults and all. She helped lead the family with love, laughter and acceptance.  She was a true shining star to all who met her.

She is survived by three children; son, Brent (Sandra) Boudle of Ozark, MO; son, Michael Boudle of Fort Calhoun, NE; daughter, Shannon Brockman (Jerry) of Marne, IA; six grandchildren; Ashley Simpson (John) of Prairieville, LA, Jordan Boudle of Baton Rouge, LA, Austin Schmitt of Des Moines, IA, Shay Boudle of Omaha, NE, Jaden Boudle (Nicole) of Blair, NE, and Dacey Boudle of Omaha, NE.  She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren; Parker Stallings and Blake Simpson both of Prairieville, LA and Braxton, Weslyn, Wakes and Boston Boudle all of Blair, NE; one sister, Sandi Walters (Gary) of Atlantic, IA and one nephew, Eric Ryan (Kathy) of Gilbert AZ; and many dear relatives and friends, including Laura West Boudle of Baton Rouge, LA and Shari Boudle of Omaha, NE.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Erma Thiessen; a son, William Ward, in infancy; her granddaughter, Alexis (Lexi) Schmitt; and great grandson, Briggs Boudle, in infancy.

Charlotte requested no visitation or funeral.  Cards and letters can be sent to 30 Brighton St, Marne, IA 51552 or left at Roland Funeral Home.  The family also suggests making a donation to your favorite fund or charity, in Charlotte’s honor.  In addition, they ask that you keep her memory alive, by sharing special memories of Charlotte and sharing laughter together.
