Ms. Chadwick

Melanie Chadwick, 64, died at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa on Friday evening, June 23, 2006.Melanie was born on August 2, 1941, the daughter of Drexel Howard and Mary Alyce (Parsons) Chadwick in Adair, Iowa. She was reared in Anita and graduated from the Anita High School in 1959. She was employed by an insurance company in Des Moines and for Gambles Hardware in Atlantic until she joined the staff at the Atlantic Hospital and continued working for the Cass County Hospital when it opened in its present location. Melanie retired in 2000 when she began assisting her dad, in his business in Anita, until his death. She continued managing Chadwick Trucking until February of this year, 2006. Melanie will be remembered as an avid Iowa basketball fan and for her love of animals. She rescued cats in need, and especially enjoyed her most recent pets, Gaby and Robbie. Surviving is her sister, Shara Cooper and her husband, Tom; and nieces and nephews, Dyanne Behnken of Anita, Clark Wilson and his wife, Tracy of Anita, Burt Wilson and his wife, Tuesday of Omaha, Lisa Wilson of Anita, Mark Cooper of Atlantic, Dana Cooper and his wife, Sandy of Atlantic, Melodie Cooper of Audubon, Linda Scheffler and her husband, Jack of Harlan, Kevin Chadwick and his wife, Carol of Harlan, Curt Chadwick of Harlan, Teresa Stinn and her husband, Mike of Harlan, Brenda Wright and her husband, Brad of Harlan; and a number of great and great-great nieces and nephews; her cousins; her Aunt Lola Smith of Tacoma, Maryland, and her special friends, Bob "Bunk&" Lamborn of Adair and Mildred Sparling of Arizona. Melanie was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Linda Wilson of Anita; and her brother, Charles Chadwick of Anita. Melanie's family will meet with friends for a visitation at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic on Tuesday evening, June 27 from 7:00 to 8:30. A funeral service will be held at the Congregational Church of Christ in Anita, Iowa at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, June 28. Pastor Nancy L. Jensen will officiate. The family invites friends to join them for a luncheon at the church after the service.
