Obituary for Leslie Richard Carper

LESLIE RICHARD CARPERLeslie Richard Carper, 79, of Atlantic, was born March 9, 1931 to Leslie Wayne Carper and Mary Catherine Meyers in Emerson, NE. Les passed away May 15, 2010 at CCMH.Les loved anything with an internal combustion engine, from motorcycles to lawn mowers to chainsaws. He loved to tell stories of experiences in Korea and Japan during the Korean Conflict where he served in the US Army. He attended Atlantic First United Methodist Church. Les was retired from Supersweet Feeds and ran his own small engine repair shop, Carper Small Engines.Les will always be remembered for his laugh and sense of humor. He will be missed by his wife Gale Carper of Atlantic, sons Michael Carper of Omaha and Ben (Nancy) Dodson of Atlantic, daughters Christine (Ken) Glendenning, Jeneanne (John) Pettis, Merrily (Bruce) Wright all of Omaha, and Suzanne Daniels of Colorado. His brother Mike Carper and sister Barbara (Doug) Baughman, also brother-in-law Bill Brant, Shirley Carper, 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, many friends, and his beloved cat Mitzi.Les was preceded in death by his parents, twin brothers James and Leonard in infancy, sisters Karen "Bunny" Quick and Katherine "Jeanne" Brandt, and nephew "Little Doug" Baughman.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Atlantic First United Methodist Church for Youth Mission trips, women's projects, Kits for Haiti program, or Church World Service blankets. Funeral InformationThere will be open visitation daily from 8:00 - 5:30 at the Roland Funeral Home through Thursday, May 20. Services will be on Friday, May 21, at the United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM. Condolences may be entered into Les" guestbook at www.rolandfuneralhome.com.
