Neal Cannon

Neal Cannon, 80, a long time resident of Atlantic, passed on at his home in Atlantic, Monday, January 24, 2005. Neal was born the son of Arthur and Daisy (Heath) Cannon, in Brayton, Iowa, October 25, 1924. He was schooled through graduation in the Brayton and Exira area, where he was an outstanding coronet player.. Neal was married to Delores "Dee&" Bash August 15, 1948 in Harlan. The couple settled in Atlantic where he worked with Atlantic Municipal Utilities for 43 years. He also worked for No Frills Grocery in Red Oak for two years and the Atlantic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He served in the Navy SeaBees in WW II.Neal was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid reader, loved antique cars and concerning food, his question was always, "Is it edible?!&" Survivors include his wife, Dee; three daughters, Sandra Dickson and husband, Curtis of Woodward, Andrea Rae Hansen of Ladson, SC and Stacia Joa Cannon-Blackburn of Atlantic; eight grandchildren, Christapher Dickson and his wife, Stephanie of Woodward, Michelle Dickson of Woodward, IA, Tamma Hansen and Calvin Hansen of Ladson, SC, Jessica Blocker and husband, Johnny of Walnut, IA, Melani Breach and husband, Daniel of Greenfield, IA, and Mychia and Mahalia Blackburn of Atlantic; nine great-grandchildren, Michael Christapher Dickson, Tymothy Kurtis Dickson, Kolton Roger Dickson, Bethanie Shianne Dickson, Caitlin Taelor Dickson,Tristain Tori-Ann Blocker, Thomas Ron Blocker, Tydus Neal Blocker and Levi Eithon Breach.Visitation for family and friends is Wednesday, Jan. 26th, from 7 - 8 P.M.
