Opal Sarah Campbell
Opal Sarah Campbell, 97, of Atlantic, Iowa and a former resident of Carson, Iowa, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2002, at her home.The daughter of Robert Edward and Adeline (Grindstaff) Colvin, Opal was born January 10, 1905, in Allendale, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Raymond J. Campbell on July 27, 1922 in Grant City, Missouri and they celebrated seventy-four years together. Opal attended the Assembly of God Church.Surviving are her five children: Robert and wife Lucille of Lincoln, Nebraska, Beatrice Hjortshoj of Atlantic, Jo Shea of Hills, Iowa, Joyce Krug and husband Ron of Monona, Wisconsin, Ray (Gene) and wife Karen of Montague, California; a grandson Bruce Rollins, whom they raised, of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; eleven additional grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; a daughter Ruby Rollins; one sister Rubye McHenry; and four brothers, Eldon, Joe, Earl and Willie Colvin.Funeral InformationServices for Opal will be held on Monday, March 4, 2002 at the First Assembly of God Church in Atlantic at 10:30 AM with Pastor Guy Fisher officiating. Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Oakland, Iowa.
