Obituary for Dorothy Elizabeth Campbell (Beekman)

Dorothy Elizabeth Campbell, 89, long time resident of Atlantic, passed away at the Oakland Manor Nursing Home in Oakland, Iowa on Wednesday, September 13, 2006. Dorothy was born April 20, 1917, the daughter of Paul C. and Martha Louise (Felt) Beekman of Nodaway Township, Iowa. She grew up and attended school in the Atlantic area where she graduated in 1934. Dorothy married Donald Campbell on August 14, 1934. The couple was blessed with a daughter, Dona Pierce. Dorothy was employed as manager of Montgomery Ward in Atlantic and was office manager for the Iowa Electric Light and Power Company for 28 years. She retired on May 1, 1982. She had all kinds of hobby crafts and handwork interests. She busied herself decorating for weddings, painting, decorating horse stalls, making ceramics and, at last, she did crossword puzzles and folded pink Kleenex. Dorothy is survived by her son-in-law, Charles Pierce; grandchildren, Terry Pierce and wife, Debbie, Becky Housman, Jerry Pierce and Suzanne Johnk, Tami Skank and husband, Sid; great grandchildren, Justin Pierce and Shawn, Jordon Pierce, Carey Boot, Randi Henderson and husband, Res, Jamie Stephens, Corey Stephens, Adam Evans and wife, Jamie, Jenna Myers, Jared Myers, and Brianna Skank; Eight great, great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Campbell and his wife, Pearl; and a sister-in-law, Ruby Beekman. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Campbell; daughter, Dona Pierce; her parents; a brother, Kenneth Beekman; and a grandson, Abe Pierce.
