KARLA BRUNER
Karla Bruner, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away at the Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, on Wednesday evening, March 21, 2012, at the age of 69.
Karla was born, October 31, 1942 in Hastings, Nebraska, the daughter of John and Evangeline Bruner. She grew up in Atlantic and graduated with the Atlantic High School Class of 1961. She worked as a nurse's aide while in Atlantic; later moved to Des Moines where she worked for the Department of Agriculture for numerous years; and then as a telephone operator at Younkers for 20 years before retiring.
She was a loving sister, auntie and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and dogs. Her favorite pastimes were shopping, garage sales, going to movies, out to eat and to the casino. Her nieces and nephews will miss their "Auntie Kay."
Karla is survived by her sister, Barbara Bruner of Atlantic, IA; her nieces, Teri (Monte) Cohenour of Waukee, Michaelle (Jon) Johnston of Adair, and Scot (Chong Song) of Japan; her great nephews, Tyler Johnston of Atlantic, Trever Jack of Des Moines, Deven Lovell of Adair, Justin and Logan of Waukee, and Drew Steckelberg of Adair; one great great-nephew, Trenton John Johnston; cousins, Judy (Phil) of Greenfield, Delores (Chuck) of Maryland, Lyle (Sherry) Lett and Dan (Connie) Grover of Atlantic, Brenda (Kent) Euken of Wiota, Roger Jensen and Marilyn Jensen of WA, Gary Nichols of AZ, Royce Nichols of Audubon; her friend, Betty Eberspacher of Elk Horn and many other friends. She will also be missed by her dogs, Jessie and Dolly.
She was preceded in death by her father, John and mother, Evangeline; aunts, Eloise Lett, Suzie Nichols and Gertrude Jensen; her uncle, Clifford Grover; her cousins, Wanda Jensen, Linda Jensen, Judy Lett, Steve Grover and Randy Grover; and her cat, Abby and dog, Baby.
