Betty Bruner

Betty Jean Bruner, 60, of Cumberland passed away Friday, September 12, 2003 at the Creighton University Hospital in Omaha.Betty was born in Atlantic, Iowa on October 15, 1942 to Oluf and Dorothy (Peterson) Nielsen and grew up in the Massena area. She graduated from the Cumberland/Massena High School in Massena in 1964. Betty married Leland Bruner in 1964 and from this union a son was born. Leland and Betty lived around the Cumberland/Massena area until 1965 when they moved to Atlantic. In 1968 they moved back to rural Cumberland and Betty remained in Cumberland until her death. Betty worked as a CNA for 27 years at the Atlantic Care Center.She is survived by a son David Eugene Harris of Cumberland; three sisters, Ellen Robert of the Atlantic Care Center, Atlantic, IA, Mary L. Smith of Anita, IA and Karen Casey of Council Bluffs, IA; a brother Kenneth Nielsen and wife Connie of Hazel, South Dakota and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.Betty is preceded in death by her parnets and her husband Leland.Funeral InformationServices for Betty will be held Wednesday, September 17, at the Roland Funeral Service at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Donald Seeger from the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic officiating. Interment will be in the Greenfield Cemetery at Greenfield, Iowa.
