Joseph “Joe” Francis Brumbaugh

Joseph Brumbaugh, 93, a longtime resident of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away from pneumonia on November 1, 2013 at Bryan Medical Center West in Lincoln, NE, while visiting his son, Ronald.
Born in Avoca Iowa, he spent part of his childhood at Boy’s Town in Omaha, NE and was celebrated as one of the first 30 children to benefit from their program, and was an outstanding student. He spent many years traveling to different areas and working government jobs until he settled in Atlantic, IA with his wife, Hazel and son, Ronald. He owned and operated his own television sales and service, JB Electronics until he retired in his 60’s. In his later years, he served as custodian at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic. He was an active and a devout member of the Catholic Church and enjoyed life and all aspects of life – and will be remembered as a giver of candy and smiles to all who encountered him. Joe brought kindness and good deeds to all people he met throughout his long and wonderful life.
Joe is survived by his son Ronald and Mary of Lincoln, NE; granddaughters, Rhonda Pohl of Omaha, NE, Lana and Marlin Moser of Bismark, ND, and Rachel and Jim Walker of Halbur, IA; grandson, Joel and Britni Williams of Bismark, ND; nieces and nephews; and grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel, of 62 years; a brother, Norman; his daughter, Debbie; sisters and brothers-in-Law, Bruce and Elsie Pellett and Jack and Darlene Pittman; and a grandson, Patrick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 13, 10:30 AM, at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, with Father Chori Seraiah, celebrant. The interment will be in the S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Atlantic.
