Hazel Brumbaugh

Hazel Brumbaugh, 87, a longtime Atlantic, Iowa resident, died at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic on Thursday, October 27, 2005.Hazel was born the daughter of Ralph C. and Fanie Mae "Templeman&" Rich, on August 22, 1919 in Lorah, Iowa. She grew up and attended school in Atlantic. She was married to Joeseph "Joe&" Brumbaugh in Nebraska in 1938. The couple was blessed with two children, and Hazel worked as a cosmetologist and enjoyed doing hospital volunteer work. She was a member of the S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic.Various of Hazel"s family shared how they will remember her: "She loved to draw, do crossword puzzles, travel and dance. She was a very caring person and loved cooking and playing games and being with grandkids. She enjoyed holding get-togethers and parties. She cherished her husband, family, friends and neighbors. Gramma loved her community and was very warm in meeting people. She welcomed everyone with open arms.&"Survivors are her husband, Joe; her son, Ronald Brumbaugh and his wife Mary of Lincoln, NE; her daughter, Debby and her husband Gordon "Keith&" Bell of Bismark, North Dakota; grandchildren, Rhonda Pohl and her husband, Jerry; Pat Brumbaugh and his wife, Micha, Chris Toczyk and his wife, Hailey and Jeremy Tomczyk and his wife, Averi, Rachel (Williams) and James Walker; great grandchildren, Timothy Pohl and Ashley Pohl, Taylor and Anna Brumbaugh, Madisen Tomczyk, Averi Tomczyk, Joel Williams, Lana (Williams) and her husband, Marlin Moser and great grandchildren, Deserae Moser, Haley Moser, Marissa Moser, Bianca Williams, Denise Walker and Bruce Walker.Hazel was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Pearl (Rich) Pearson, Elsie (Rich) Pellet and Darlene (Rich) Pittman. An open visitation (for guests to sign the register book and viewing) was held at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic until 2:00 p.m on Sunday, October 30. Later that day, Hazel"s family received friends at a visitation at the Atlantic S. S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Sunday at 6:00 and attended a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 31 at 2:00 p.m. at the church with Father Dan Siepker officiating. The committal will be in the Atlantic Catholic Cemetery.
