Obituary for George Arlen Brown

George Arlen Brown 68, of Cumberland, Iowa, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2002, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.The son of George and Bernadette Irene (Doty) Brown, George was born October 19, 1933 in Atlantic. He attended school in Adair County and Council Bluffs. George lived in Riddle, Oregon for 22 years where he worked for Hanna Nickel Mines. He moved to Cumberland in 1994 and was married to Betty Lou Schmidt on December 12, 1995 in Canyonville, Oregon. George was a heavy equipment operator for Henningsen Construction retiring in July of 2001.Surviving are his wife, Betty, of Cumberland; his children, Sheree Mcbride and husband, Wilbur, of Colville, Washington, Cindy and Jim of Sutherlin, Oregon, John Brown and wife, Shelly, of Riddle, Oregon, Suzanne Brown of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, and Jay Brown of Myrtle Creek, Oregon; ten grandchildren, Trisha Robbins, Heather, Tracy and Brent MacIntire, Nicole and Travis Brown, Crystal, Deborah, Eric and Tayjonna Brown; one great-grandchild Kyliegh Belcher; four sisters, Jeanette Hansen and husband, Claten, of Grand Island, Nebraska, Rose Ella Dahlin of Cala Mesa, California, Carol Dorsch of Omaha, Nebraska and Bernadette Edwards of Pollock, Louisiana; two brothers, Neil Brown and wife, Evelyn, of Corning, Iowa and Dennis Brown and wife, Karen, of Cumberland, Iowa; six stepchildren, Diane Anderson and husband, Chuck, of Griswold, Jon Misner of Columbus, Nebraska, Donna Harris and husband, Bill, of Cumberland, Charles Misner and wife, Deb, of Griswold, Deborah Misner of Atlantic, and Jim Misner of Atlantic; seventeen step grandchildren, Melissa and Justin Hoeck, Nicholas and Nathan Dorscher, April and Holly Anderson, Thea and Montana Harris, Jessica, Kristen, Hannah and Brandon Misner, Ashley and Jordan Misner, Alicia, J.J., and Cameron Misner; two great-step-grandchildren, Amberlye and Michael Ervin.He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Lee, Eugène and Delbert Brown.Funeral InformationFuneral services for George will be held at the Roland Funeral Home on January 23, 2002 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Robert G. Beard of the Cumberland United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Newlons Grove Cemetery southwest of Cumberland.
