Agnes Mary Brooks
Agnes Mary Brooks Agnes Brooks, 93, long time resident of Atlantic, passed away Friday evening, September 11, 2009 at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic. Agnes Mary was born the daughter of Frank and Julia (Berger) Foltz on December 5, 1915 in Greeley, Nebraska. She grew up there and graduated from the Greeley High School. Following graduation, she moved to Omaha and worked for the railroad in accounting. Agnes was married to Fred E. Brooks on January 28, 1940. The couple lived in Omaha where Fred was stationed with the US Army. They were blessed with three sons and moved to various parts of the world until his retirement in 1958. At that time the family moved to Atlantic where they owned Brooks Paint. Agnes loved to travel and was very much a people person. She also enjoyed a lot of hand crafting. She will be remembered for her wonderful smile. Her survivors include her sons, Robert Brooks of Chicago, Illinois, Richard Brooks and wife Carolyn of Corpus Christi and Thomas Brooks of Richmond, Virginia; grand daughters, Laura Brooks and Deena Brooks of San Diago, CA; grandsons, Andrew Brooks of Corpus Christi, TX, Jon Brooks of Corpus Christi, TX and Matthew Brooks of Houston, TX; great grandchildren, Megan Brooks of Denver, CO, Jack and Max Brooks of Corpus Christi, TX, Lauren and Dylan Brooks of Houston, brothers, Fritz and Ray Foltz of Greeley, NE; a sister Peg Opitz of Denver, CO; and many, many nieces, nephews, and friends. Agnes was preceded in passing by her parents; her husband Fred; brothers, Richard and Ben Foltz; sisters, Dolores Saxe and Rosella Steele; and many, many nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral Information Her funeral mass will be held at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 16 with committal service following in the Atlantic Catholic Cemetery. Father Beeson and Deacon Cornwell will officiate. There will be a rosary on Tuesday evening at 6:30 with family visitation following until 8:00 at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa.
