Obituary for Dallas Dean Brix

Dallas Dean Brix, 61, of rural Walnut, passed away Monday, February 26, 2001, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.The son of Ralph and Alta Voss Brix, Dallas was born January 26, 1940, in Walnut where he grew up and graduated from Walnut High School in 1958. He was united in marriage to Lois Jean Olsen on January 29, 1960, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska, and to this union 2 children were born, Diane and Kevin. Following marriage they lived on a farm east of Walnut for two years. Then they farmed near Atlantic for seven years and moved back to their present farm south of Walnut in 1970. Dallas was a member of our Savior Lutheran Church in Walnut and served in various church and community organizations. In 1998 the Brix family was recognized as Walnut"s "Farm Family of the Year&". Dallas enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's activities. He collected antique cars and was owner of "The Barn Mall&" antique shop in Walnut with his wife Lois. Favorite hobbies included fishing, landscaping and farm improvement projects. He took special pride in roofing his outbuildings in "John Deere Green&".He is survived by his wife, Lois Jean Olsen Brix; one daughter, Diane Hunter and her husband, Ward, and their children, Bryant and Aubrey of Ogden, Iowa; one son, Kevin Brix and his wife, Debbie and their children, Trey and Mindon of Walnut; a twin brother, Dennis Brix; one sister, Nerita Sorensen and her husband, Robert, all of Walnut; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Alta Brix; and a brother, Darrelyn Brix.Roland Funeral Service - Atlantic IowaFuneral InformationServices for Dallas were held Wednesday, February 28, 2001. at 2:00 PM at the Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic, Iowa with Pastor Allen D. Hellwege officiating.Interment was in the Walnut Cemetery at Walnut, Iowa.
