BETTY JANE BRAKE
Betty Brake, 81, long time resident of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center.
Betty Brake, the daughter of Earl Henry and Pearl Edith (Hudson) Cavner, was born April 1, 1932, in Rockport, MO. She attended the Hamburg, Iowa Public School.
Betty was united in marriage to Deward Lee Brake on March 23, 1949 in Hamburg, Iowa. The couple soon moved to Atlantic where they made their home. Betty worked at the Blue Star a number of years but spent the majority of her time as a housekeeper, helping with cleaning homes.
Most of all, Betty enjoyed raising her children and being with her grandkids. Being friendly and good natured, she enjoyed people where ever she went. If she was out shopping, it was common that she would visit with several folks—adults and kids, as it was so easy for her to make friends. In fact, some of the cards that she received summed it up, as her son quoted some reading, “You have a
