EVELYN LORRAINE BOYSEN
Evelyn Boysen, a resident of Atlantic, Iowa, formerly of Wiota, Iowa, passed away at the age of 92 on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at the Heritage House in Atlantic. Evelyn was the wife of the late Arthur Boysen.
Evelyn, the daughter of R. A. "Barney" Kuhl and Julia Ann (McConnellee) Kuhl,
was born on August 10, 1919 in Atlantic. She graduated from Atlantic High School and continued on for normal training to become a teacher. Evelyn taught school for one year at Pymose #9. Completing normal training and teaching was a source of pride for Evelyn. On September 9, 1939, she was united in marriage to Arthur Boysen in Council Bluffs, IA. After their marriage, Art and Evelyn moved to a farm south of Wiota, IA where the couple enjoyed 58 years of marriage. Arthur was a farmer and Evelyn was a homemaker, mother, and an active member of her community. She was a member of the Rainbow Girls, Wiota Methodist Church, Lotus Rebekah Lodge and the Past Noble Grand Club. Evelyn's interests included reading, cooking, flower gardening and needle work. Her favorite things were birds, butterflies, and anything purple. Evelyn especially enjoyed her family. Family and friends will remember her for her quiet strength.
Surviving Evelyn are her daughters, Karen and husband, Gary Rich of Massena, IA and Christie Boysen of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, Rebecca and husband, Randy Whinery of Farmington, NM, Wade Rich of Anita, IA and friend Kris Sothman, Jennifer and husband, Brian Heithoff of Pine Bluffs, WY, Ryan and wife, Traci Rich of Anita, IA, and Andrea Rich of Ames, IA; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Kemp, Mollie, Madison, Tillie and Jackson Heithoff, and Colby, Meredith and Ruthie Rich, as well as her sister, Mildred Wheeler of Red Oak, IA, and many treasured nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur in May of 1998; daughter, Linda Montgomery; son-in-law, George Senholz; sister, M. Caroline Cushing;
brother, Lawrence Kuhl; brothers-in-law, Charles Wheeler, Oliver Cushing, Harry Boysen and Arlow Boysen; sister-in-law, Edith Jorgensen.
