Izetta C. Bopp
The daughter of Arthur G. and Mildred Bartlett Anderson, was born August 1, 1912, in Audubon County, Iowa. She graduated from Atlantic High School in 1930. She taught school for five years in Cass County and was Dr. Knarr’s dental assistant for 1 year. Her marriage to Henry (Jack) Bopp took place in St. Gabrielle’s Monastery in Des Moines, January 5, 1935. They lived in Council Bluffs three years, later moving to a farm near Brayton, Iowa. She was Postmaster in Brayton 16 years until retiring in June of 1976.
After retirement, Izetta made two trips to Europe and took several cruises, including the Panama Canal, Alaska, and the Caribbean; and many auto trips crossing the USA from coast to coast plus Canada.
She was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, National Association of U.S. Postmasters serving as Regional Chairman, Legion Auxiliary in Brayton, serving as Unit Chairman and County Chairman. She was a member of Nishna Hills Golf Club, DOES, and CCMH Auxiliary.
Surviving are son Joe Bopp and wife Donna of The Woodlands, TX, four grand daughters: Linda Garriott and husband Kenneth of Indianapolis IN, Sherri Book and husband Bart of Carmel, IN, Julie Gilbert and husband George of Houston TX, and Kathie Heath and husband Brent of The Woodlands, TX; nine great grand children: Nicole and Jonathan Garriott, Lauren and husband Constantine Linos, Hilary Book, George and Jackson Gilbert, and Madison, Parker and Rylie Heath; daughter-in-law Charlotte Bopp of Carmel, IN; and sister-in-law Norma Anderson of Austin, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, son Walter, brothers Phil Anderson and wife Genevieve , Ronald Anderson and wife Evelyn, Gene Anderson , and Donald Anderson (2 ½ years).
The funeral mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 31 at the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic with a committal service following in the Atlantic SS Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. There will be a visitation at Roland Funeral Home from 5 to 7pm on Thurs. May 30. Open visitation will be from 8am to 5:30pm daily until visitation time Thursday.
