Obituary for
Michal Sue Boos
Michal Sue Yarger Boos blessed this world on May 9, 1949 and went home to be with her Lord on December 11, 2010. Michal Sue was born to John and Micki (Staley) Yarger and spent her whole childhood in Massena, Iowa. Two brothers, John Kent and Steven Brian completed the very close family. She loved to sing and adored dancing. Her natural rhythm and grace served her well in cheerleading and drum majorette for C&M High School. In 8th grade she met the love of her life, and Ron Boos became the only guy in school with a pony-tailed shadow. After graduating high school in 1967 she worked briefly as the school secretary, and she and Ron were married on May 6, 1968. They settled on a farm east of Cumberland, where they welcomed son Troy Dean and daughter Brandi Lei. In 1976, the family moved north of Massena to the farm built by Ron"s grandfather where they shared the joy and frustration of making their living from the land. Michal Sue was Ron"s support system, whether it was bringing lunch to the field, running to fetch parts, or working to save an orphaned baby calf. The highlight of each year was the family"s summer vacation in Minnesota to the resort Ron"s family had been going to since he was thirteen. Michal Sue devoted her life to her family; a never-tiring supporter of Troy"s athletic events, Brandi"s cheerleading and speech activities, their demanding 4-H schedules, and countless other endeavors. Brandi"s friends remember fondly the slumber parties that were never complete without Michal Sue"s homemade pizza. Her devotion naturally extended to her parents, brothers, in-laws and friends. She loved them all dearly and they couldn"t help but love her. Michal Sue"s creativity found an outlet when she began a craft business. Her beautiful floral designs found their way into many homes and everyone in the family hoped she would draw their name for Christmas so they could be the beneficiary of her talent. In recent years, she had found her true calling as a caregiver to small children; first as a preschool teaching assistant and then in a day care setting. Her warm hugs, silly faces, and infinite patience led the children to trust her and love her with all their little hearts. And those angel faces running toward her for a hug were treasured more than they could ever know. A mother thinks they can never love anyone as much as their children, until they have grandchildren. When Troy and Brandi started families of their own, Michal Sue discovered a new depth to her love. "Nana&" was never happier than she was screaming herself hoarse at a football game â whether it was for the grandson making the touchdown or the granddaughter who became a third generation cheerleader. She would stand in line three hours early for the annual dance recital and loved to hear the beautiful voices of her granddaughters sing. She considered herself blessed by every minute spent adoring them. Michal Sue Boos was one of the rare people you meet in life who truly made the world a better place just by being herself. From the tiniest baby to the eldest heart, she deeply cared for every life that touched her own. We believe she has gone before us to take care of those we loved and to let them take care of her. Preceding Michal Sue to her Heavenly home were her grandparents, her beloved mother, Micki Yarger, and best friend Caia Sothman. Left behind to await their reunion above, are her husband of 42 years, Ron Boos; son Troy and his children: Josh, Monica and Tyler with their mother Christine; daughter Brandi Hansen and her children: Sawyer, Kassidy, and Gracie; her father John Yarger, brother Kent and his wife Linda; brother Steve; Ron"s parents Virgil and Grace Boos; sister-and-brother-in-law Julie and Kent Stender; beloved nieces and nephews and adored great-nieces and nephews; friends who loved her dearly and the children who lit up her world.Funeral InformationThere will be open visitation at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic daily from 8:00 - 5:30 with a family visitation on Tuesday, December 14, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Services for Michal will be held on Wednesday, December 15, at 1:30 p.m. at the Roland Funeral Home with interment in the Massena Center Cemetery north of Massena.
