Lela M. Boos, 87, of Atlantic, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016, at Atlantic Specialty Care.

Lela May was born on May 2, 1929, three miles north of Massena, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence August and Elsie (Holste) Boos. Following graduation she worked for Safeway in Omaha and Massey-Ferguson in Des Moines. She later moved back to the home place, and was a nurse aid and secretary for Dr. Dirlam for many years. After her mother passed away she cared for her father, and together they enjoyed many fishing trips. After his death in 1976, she moved to Atlantic and worked for DeLong's.

Lela enjoyed reading, especially anything to do with animals or strengthening her faith. Lela was dedicated to her Lord Jesus Christ and was a member at 1st Assembly for the last 38 years. She looked forward to family gatherings at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Lela is survived by her brother, Virgil Boos of Cumberland; nephew, Ron Boos of Massena; niece, Julia (Kent) Stender of Massena; several great-nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Freddie.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Grace Boos; and nephew Ron's wife, Michal Sue.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 22nd at Roland Funeral, with Pastor Guy Fisher of 1st Assembly officiating. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the memorial service from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
