Obituary for Marjorie Bond

Lois Marjorie Bond Lois Marjorie Hansen Bond was born January 17, 1913 in Adair County Iowa and passed away January 25, 2009 in Atlantic, Iowa at the age of 96. Her parents were Flora Campbell Hansen and Everett Garfield Hansen. She attended Drake University majoring in music. On November 18, 1934 she married Dr. Thomas L. Bond in Chicago, Illinois. After Dr. Bond completed his military service they settled in Cumberland where they lived until Dr. Bond's death in 1970. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Gweldon Hansen, and her loving husband. Marge was a 71 year member of the Eastern Star becoming Grand Organist for the State of Iowa in 1951. She was a member of the Cass County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Cumberland and Atlantic Methodist Church and taught music at the Cumberland Schools. Marge will long be remembered playing the piano her entire life. She played for silent movies in the Bridgewater theatre and was still playing at Heritage House last week. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family includes a son, Roger R. Bond and Rita of Georgetown, Texas, daughter Janet K. Steen and Larry of Georgetown, Texas. Grandchildren Thomas Bond, Stephanie Bond, Scott Laurinat and Kristin Bigham. Great-grandchildren Dravyn and Journee Bigham. Step-grandchildren Douglas Steen, Debi Wallingford and Daniel Steen. Step-great-grandchildren Logan and Landon Steen, Victoria and Olivia Wallingford and Quinton Steen, niece Patty Jo Schmollinger and nephew Jim Nelson. She was loved by all who knew her.Funeral InformationThere will be open visitation at Roland Funeral Home and family will meet with friends on Wednesday evening, January 28, from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Rolands. Marjorie's funeral will be held at Rolands on Thursday, January 29 at 1:30pm. Her committal service will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Cumberland, Iowa. Pastor Gary DeGeest of First Methodist Church in Atlantic will preside. Her family welcomes friends to join them for refreshments to be served at Heritage House following services.
