MORRIS BLAKE Morris J. Blake, 77, of the Atlantic area passed away Sunday, August 16, 2009 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic. The son of Niles and Mildred Blake, he was born August 24, 1931 at the Atlantic Hospital. He attended country school and graduated with the Atlantic High School Class of 1949. He attended several quarters at ISU in the winter months. Morris farmed all his life in the Atlantic area. He loved the serenity of the quiet farm life. He loved to hunt and had a nice gun collection. He was an avid reader and liked reading the Bible and history and military books. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was Master of the Lodge three times at Cumberland. Morris enjoyed seeing his family, especially the nieces and nephews! Morris enjoyed traveling with his parents and friends. He was a member of the Fletcher Chapel Methodist Church and later First United Methodist Church in Atlantic. He is survived by his sister Sharol Steinbeck and husband Don; nephew Tim Steinbeck and wife Jana; niece Shelly Miller and husband Gary; niece Rebecca Howell and husband Douglas; and several great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents Niles and Mildred Blake and a niece Julie Steinbeck.Funeral Information There will be open visitation from 8:00 to 5:00 P.M. Tuesday and family will meet with friends from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, August 19 at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Morris' funeral service will also be held at Roland Funeral Home on Wednesday at 1:30 P.M. Pastor Celeste Waymire of Saint John's United Church of Christ will officiate. Following, there will be a committal service in the Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic, Iowa.
