Carl Alfred Bishop
Carl Alfred Bishop, 92, a resident of the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center, passed away there Thursday, March 1, 2001.The son of Sherman and Eliza (Wocke) Bishop, he was born July 24, 1908, near Lewis, Iowa where he grew up, attended the Lewis schools and graduated from Lewis High School. He was a self-employed farmer and lived on farms in the Lewis, Anita and Wiota areas. He married Opal L. Smith on October 24, 1942, in Maryville, Missouri. Carl and Opal retired from the farm and moved to Atlantic, Iowa in June of 1988.He is survived by his wife, Opal of Atlantic; one son, Larry Bishop and his wife, Carole, of Eldredge, Iowa; one daughter, Barbara Hrabak and her husband Richard, of Chelsea, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Kristen Hastings and her husband, Don, Eileen Bishop, Jason Hrabak and his wife, Stacey, Melissa Hrabak, Aaron Hrabak and Jeff Hrabak; two sisters, Esther Karstensen of Atlantic and Dorothy Campbell of Gresham, Oregon; and a number of nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Clella Reuszer; and four brothers Merwin, Harold, Donald and Melvyn.Roland Funeral Service -- Atlantic, IowaFuneral InformationA private family committal service was held for Carl on Monday, March 5, 2001 at Southlawn Memory Gardens at Atlantic, Iowa.
