Beverly Bennett, 93, of Atlantic, Iowa, died Friday, September 9, 2022, at the Heritage House.

The daughter of Hollis and Avis (Stuelke) Strike, she was born September 13, 1928, in Nashua, IA.  She attended school there, graduating in 1947.  Throughout many of those years she was active in concert and marching band, drum quartet and vocal groups.  Beverly then enrolled in St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in Cedar Rapids, IA, graduating in 1950 as a registered nurse.

She was united in marriage to Robert D. Bennett, September 9, 1950, in the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, IA.  While Bob served in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict, she worked as a nurse in the Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City, IA.  Upon his discharge from the service, they made their home in Malvern, IA, before moving to Atlantic in 1953.  The couple was blessed with three children, Larry, Sandy & Bill.  Beverly served as a nurse in the Atlantic Community Schools for the twelve years prior to their moving to Yankton, SD.  Upon Bob’s death, Bev moved back to Atlantic in 1989.

She was active in the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, American Cancer Society and enjoyed league bowling.  Beverly served as a resident advocate at Heritage House for over 25 years.  She cherished her time spent with family and friends.

Bev is survived by her two sons, Larry Bennett of Seattle, WA and Bill (Lydia) Bennett of Duluth, MN; grandchildren, Chad Lansdown of Atlantic, Jamie (Ryan) Pelzer of Malvern, IA, and Brian (Nichole) Bennett of Savage, MN; great grandchildren, Korbin Pelzer, Hayden Lansdown, Violet Bennett, Ripley Bennett and Macready (Mack) Bennett; sister, Marilyn Strike of Mason City, IA; two brothers, Marvin (Marge) Strike of Waukon, IA and Burt (Marlis) Strike of Newton, IA; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her daughter, Sandy Lansdown; her parents; a sister, Shirley Jean Strike; mother- and father-in-law, H.F. and Maurine Bennett; daughter-in-law, Lani Bennett; and son-in-law, Bob Lansdown.

Open visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 16th at Roland Funeral Home.  Visitation with the family present will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. following open visitation at Rolands.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17th, at the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic, with Pastor Dan Wiebesiek officiating.  A short visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to the time of service at the church.

Burial will be held in the Atlantic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for later designation.
