Betty Albert

Betty Albert, 92, of Atlantic, Iowa, died Sunday, February 26, 2023, at the Exira Care Center.

Betty Ann was born on November 17, 1930, in Mapleton, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Helen (Larsen) Hansen.  She graduated from Exira High School.

On July 31, 1949, she was united in marriage to Donald Maurice Albert in Exira, Iowa.  The couple was blessed with three sons, Mike, Mark, and Monte.  The couple spent time together fishing and hunting; a few of their favorite spots being Lake Anita and a cabin near a lake in Minnesota.  They also looked forward to their annual trips to Hawaii to visit family.  Betty’s family recalls how devoted she was in the care for Donald when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

She worked at Scott’s, later Ben Franklin, at the candy counter for a few years and then was an AVON Representative for over 30 years.  During this time, she earned many awards, including figurines, for her volume of sales.   Betty took pride in displaying a different seasonally themed figurine each month.

Betty enjoyed feeding the birds and took a great amount of pride in her home which was bordered by her beautiful flower gardens.  She had a knack for baking pies and making special Christmas candies.  Betty was faithful in taking daily walks with her dog, Molly.

Betty’s sweet spirit will always be treasured by her family and friends.  She is survived by her sons, Mike (Joy) Albert of Atlantic and Monte Albert of Gowrie; grandchildren, Carrie Winston, Jason Albert, Jon Albert and Christopher (Amy) Albert; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Ashlynn and Eric Albert; and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Helen Hansen; husband, Donald; son Mark; grandson, Charles Albert; grandson-in-law, Wynn Winston; and sisters, Mary Ellen and Nancy.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 2, 2023, at the Atlantic Cemetery.
