Lola Mildred Berg
LOLA MILDRED (JENSEN) DARROW BERG Lola Darrow Berg, from Anita and Wiota, passed away at the Colonial Manor in Anita, Iowa Friday morning, April 2, 2010, at the age of 84. Lola was born near Massena, Iowa on July 24, 1925 to Emanuel and Frances (Bright) Jensen and grew up in the Cumberland area graduating from the Cumberland High School in 1941. On April 9, 1943, Lola was united in marriage to Lawrence (Larry) Glen Darrow in Bethany, Missouri. After her children were raised, Lola went back to school to become a nurse. In 1966 she graduated from a nursing school in Omaha, Nebraska and worked at the Clarkson Hospital there. Later Lola became the director of nursing at the Salem Nursing home in Elk Horn, Iowa. In 1992 they settled in Anita where Larry passed away in August 2001. She later was united in marriage to Lloyd Berg. Lola enjoyed playing piano and organ along with traveling, camping, fishing, her grandchildren and her dogs. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Atlantic, Iowa. Surviving Lola are two daughters, Sharon Sanny and her husband Virgil of Bedford, IA and Kathy Schmitt and husband John of Atlantic, IA; one son, David Darrow and wife Mary of Omaha, NE; twelve grandchildren, Monica Brandt and husband Tony of Indianola, IA, Deanne Leasure and husband Joe of Scarborough, ME, Carmen Revels and husband Kelly of Selma, NC, Derek Sanny and wife Vicki of Atlantic, IA, Kaleb Sanny and wife Tiffany of Neosho, MO, Alisha Ruple and husband Nick of Farmington, AR, Brian Schmitt and wife Julie of Oblong, IL, Mitch Schmitt of Omaha, NE, Elizabeth Peters and husband Scott of Treynor, IA, Laurie Ann Greco and husband Al of Omaha, NE, Becky Benjamin and husband Richard of Windsor, CA and Jennifer Darrow of Omaha, NE; twenty-eight great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Ackerman and husband Rollie of Sand Point, ID and Jeanne Huish of Thatcher, AZ; several nieces, nephew and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Larry and Lloyd; one brother Lawrence Jensen; three sisters, Mildred Jensen, Myrtle Pop and Dorothy Ayers; one grandson Todd Schmitt and mother and father-in-law Clair and Harriett Darrow.Funeral Information There will be open visitation daily at the Roland Funeral Home from 8:00 - 5:30 except for Sunday with family meeting friends on Monday evening, April 5, from 5:30 - 7:30 at the First Church of Christ for visitation. Services for Lola will be held on Tuesday, April 6, at the First Church of Christ at 2:00 PM with Tony Brandt officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
