Vera Anita Bennett
Vera Anita Bennett, 81, of Kimballton and formerly of Atlantic, passed away early Sunday morning, June 8, 2003, at the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn, Iowa. She was born June 20, 1921 to Walter and Sylvia (Overton) Kuhl in Dallas County, Iowa and was raised by her Uncle George and Aunt Nora Mae Kuhl because her birth parents Walter and Sylvia died in 1921 of typhoid fever. She attended country school Grove #5 and the Atlantic High School and was with the class of 1939. She married Jerry Schnomier and later married Bill Bennett on May 24th, 1987 in Las Animas. CO. Following their marriage, they lived in Mountain Home, AR before moving to Kimballton in April 1993. Vera had lived in Atlantic, Woodward, IA; Vista, Pasedena, Las Encinas and San Fernando Valley, CA. Before her marriage to Bill, Vera was employed at Woodward State Hospital in Woodward, IA for about a year. When she lived in North Ridge, CA. in the San Fernando Valley, she was employed by the North Ridge Hospital as a L.P.N. for a number of years. She was a member of the United Church of Christ. It was well known that purple was Vera"s favorite color. Vera is survived by her husband Bill and two daughters Charlotte Chapman of Kearns, Utah, Patti Haas and husband Bill of Chatsworth, CA; one son Raymond Bills of Scottsdale, AZ.; nine grandchildren, Traci and Billy Haas, Peggy and husband Ron Freier, Claten and wife Rebecca Chapman, Jerry Ray and Robert Chapman, Wendy, Tommy and Todd Ward; five great-grandchildren, Ryan and Zoey Freier, Madisyn Chapman, William Chapman and Cody Nunley.She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Sylvia Kuhl, George and Lenora (Nora Mae) Kuhl, a brother Howard Kuhl, and a sister Hazel Kuhl in 1921.Funeral InformationServices for Vera will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at 11:00 A.M. at the United Church of Christ in Atlantic, Iowa with Reverend Sue Hyndman and Reverend Larry Kuhl officiating. Interment is in the Panther Creek Cemetery east of Redfield, IA
