Maxine Grace Bell
Maxine Grace Bell, 86, a life time resident of Cass County, passed away on June 4, 2002 at the Griswold Care Center.The daughter of Emil Henry and May Etta (Wasmer) Pelzer, Maxine was born January 10, 1916 on the Pelzer farm in Noble Township and grew up in that area near Lyman and Griswold. She attended a one room country school near the family farm and graduated from the Atlantic High School in 1933 with a Normal Training Certificate. She began her love for teaching at the age of seventeen and taught until her marriage to Philip Mack Bell on June 1, 1941. Maxine was a devoted teacher, wife, mother and grandmother. she was a member of the Noble Center United Methodist Church and enjoyed being active with the Cass County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, giving over 5,200 hours of her time.Maxine is survived by her daughter, Dianne Namanny of Atlantic; her son, Dick and his wife, Carol, of Aberdeen, South Dakota; six grandchildren, Brian, Blaine and Brett Bell of Van Meter, IA, Emily Namanny of Des Moines, IA, Chrissy Namanny of Iowa City, IA and Suzi Namanny of Atlantic; one great-granddaughter, Lacey Bell of Van Meter; and one step-granddaughter, Melanie Mitchell of New York City, New York.Funeral InformationFollowing cremation, the cremated remains will be interred in the Noble Center Cemetery. There will be a ten-thirty A.M. memorial service at the cemetery, Saturday morning, June 8, with Pastor G. C. "Bud" Wiser officiating.The family is interested in a memorial to be made for families with Alzheimer's patients.
