ROSEMARY L. BECKER
Rosemary Louise Becker, 87, a long time resident of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away at the Heritage House in Atlantic on Wednesday, August 28, 2013.
Rosemary was born on March 12, 1926 in Keystone, Indiana, the daughter of Charles and Edith (Sovern) Norman. She moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa on March 4, 1934, and then to Atlantic in September of 1940, where she graduated with the Atlantic High School Class of 1944. She was married to Raymond D. Becker on December 2, 1945, at the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic. Together, they lived south of Atlantic on the Becker home place in Bear Grove Township, a farm they later owned. Eventually, they moved back to Atlantic in 1990 where they settled at 1011 Plum Street.
She was active in the community as a member of Golden Rule chapter #194 of Atlantic, a Past Worthy Matron of the Cumberland OES, a charter member of the Cass Co. Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the United Methodist Church in Atlantic and the United Methodist Women.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Norman Dale; and her brothers, Melvin, Ralph and Charles Norman.
She is survived by her husband, four children, Ramona (Mrs. George Burns) of Syracuse, NY, Janice (Mrs. Fred Hegner) of Omaha, NE, Karen (Mrs. Tim Reynolds) of Windsor, CO, and Nancy Becker of Lincoln, NE; six grandchildren, Michelle (Bryan) Jarrett, Shelley (Rob) Angle, Patty (Jeff) Yankee, Daniel (Stefanie) Hegner, David Hegner and Jesse (Jourdan) Reynolds; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Charles (Ruth) Norman, Mrs. Melvin (Margaret) Norman & Mrs. Ralph (Barbara) Norman; and many nieces and nephews.
