Obituary for
Lucille Marie Baxter
Lucille Baxter, 92, of Atlantic, Iowa and formerly of Alden, Illinois, passed away at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic Saturday, December 20, 2008. Lucille was born to Jennie and Fred Grey in Park Ridge, Illinois on March 5, 1916. She attended grade school and high school at Main Township in Park Ridge and was a graduate of beauty school in Chicago. Lucille married Ken Baxter in 1939. The couple moved to Arlington Heights where they were blessed with two daughters. The family moved to Atlantic, Iowa in 1945. A son, Bob, was born in Atlantic. Lucille liked gardening, crocheting and playing cards. She belonged to BPO Does. In recent years, she was a resident of Heritage House. Those who knew her will remember her cheerful countenance and ever positive outlook. Her daughters, in wishing to share a memory of Lucille"s last day, have written the following which will live on as an inspiration to the family ~ Thursday Dec. 18 We spent the day with mother. She had her Christmas brunch, finished a lap robe for the homeless and she beat her kids at cribbage two out of three games. She talked to her three children every day by phone and we often emailed her. ~ We miss her. Those who survive her include her children, Phyllis Johnk and husband Ted of Oakland, IA, Roberta Reising and husband Bernard of Branson, MO and Robert Baxter of Urbandale, IA; 14 grandchildren, Rob Renaud (Chauna) of Carson City, NV, Curt Renaud (Beth) of Atlantic, IA, Craig Renaud (Cathy) of Atlantic, Lanny Johnk (Melissa) of Dennison, IA, Mitch Johnk (Kim) of Panora, IA, Laura Moore (Ken) of Oakland, IA, Ryan Wilderman (Amber) of Konenwetter, WI, Kara Webb of Branson, MO, Peggy Domanus (Jim) of Otsego, MN, Chris Reising (Karin) of La Grange Park, IL, Ken Baxter (Lisa) of Des Moines, Dena Cox (Dana) of Earlham, IA, Scott Baxter of Kansas City, KS and Robyn Brundage of Des Moines, IA; 28 great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter; two brothers, Earl Grey (Rita) of Park Ridge, IL, Freddie Grey (Harriett) of Spokane, WA; one sister-in-law Marilyn Grey of Pueblo, CO and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ken and a brother, Larry.Funeral InformationThe family will meet with friends for a visitation on Monday, December 22 from 5:00 to 7:00 at Roland Funeral Home. There will, otherwise, be open visitation at the funeral home. Lucille"s funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23 at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Pastor Mike Kalstrup of Fellowship of Faith Christian Church in Oakland, IA will officiate. The committal service will be in the Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic. Roland Funeral Home is caring for Lucille"s family and the arrangements.
